Anupamaa star Rupali Ganguly REVEALS the big change Shah Rukh Khan introduced in Bollywood, calls it a 'good thing'

Popular television actress Rupali Ganguly, who is currently playing the role of Anu in Rajan Shahi's show Anupamaa started her career at a young age. She has now become the highest-paid personality and enjoys a massive fan following. Rupali acted in several films before quitting the industry due to casting couch and disparity. In her latest interview with Zoom, Rupali noticed a change in the film industry and credited Shah Rukh Khan for the same.

Rupali who has become a household name now was seen praising television as a medium for giving respect to women. She was quoted saying, "What is happening in movies now, Shah Rukh Khan started naming the lead actress before him. This is a very good thing. It is a big change. I grew up in a film background. I have always seen this disparity. It was always a hero's film. My father used to make heroine's films. Whether it was Kora Kagaz or Tapasya, jisme Rakhi aunty thi. My father was one of the major pioneers to make women-oriented films when hero-oriented (films) were being made. Today, I am doing Anupama. Television has always been a blessing for women".

She added, "We all have seen the casting couch in the film industry. Somewhere down the line, we have come across it. Aaj auratein baat kar rahi hai, uss waqt baat nahi hoti thi. It was a major reason to leave the industry. Tab samajh bhi nahi thi itni but aaj kal ke log ab aware hai."

Rupali further added saying, "There is nothing like that in the television industry. It is the cleanest place. I have still given auditions for Anupama. I am sure everybody, no matter what your last show was, you will have to give auditions for the new show. You get work on the basis of your talent, not because of other things. Television has always given a lot of respect to women. This is the beauty of television. Women are always treated like queens".

Talking about Anupamaa, the current storyline focuses on Prem and Raahi's wedding. The makers are adding high voltage drama in their upcoming episodes.
