For a long time now, Karan Johar has been on the receiving end of trolls for nepotism in Bollywood. Ever since Kangana Ranaut called him the 'flagbearer' of nepotism, he has received constant backlash. However, over the past few years, Karan has been subtly yet sassily hitting back at trolls. In a recent interview, Karan Johar came out in support of Alia Bhatt and slammed all those who call the actress 'nepo kid'.
In an interview with Galatta Plus, Karan Johar called the trolls 'idiotic' for terming Alia Bhatt as a 'nepo kid'. He boasted about her films like Highway, Gangubai Kathiawadi and more. He said, "Have you seen Highway? Have you seen Udta Punjab? Have you seen Raazi? Have you seen Gangubai? Just see her movies. If you are still calling her a nepo kid, then you've got to be the most idiotic person on this planet. And no one can help you." Alia Bhatt marked her Bollywood debut with Karan Johar's Student of the Year. Since then, the actress has showcased a tremendous progress in her acting chops. Karan Johar has always had only good things to say about the diva. They share a strong connection and the filmmaker has always called her his 'first daughter'.
Karan Johar also mentioned about Ibrahim Ali Khan and Khushi Kapoor's movie Nadaaniyan receiving bad reviews and mentioned that 'hating' the film had become 'fashionable'. He simply said 'move on' to trolls stuck on 'nepo kids' debate.
In the same interview, Karan Johar also spoke about Babil Khan's recent meltdown video. The filmmaker mentioned that he felt bad as a parent. He stated that he felt terrible as he is also a parent. His quote read, "I felt as bad as people did as a parent when I saw Babil's meltdown. I felt terrible because I also have a son and a daughter."
