Deepika demanded an 8-hour work shift during film shoots, which sparked considerable controversy. Deepika questioned why male superstars never make headlines when they talk about working 8 hours, but when a woman does, she's labeled as demanding. According to reports, Deepika walked away from films like the sequel to Kalki 2898 AD and Spirit because producers couldn't meet her demand for an 8-hour work shift.

She further wrote, "A mother striving for work-life balance should be supported. As long as she meets her commitments, her colleagues should be team players and respect her time." Iqra herself is the mother of a four-year-old son.

In a recent interview with CNBC TV18, Deepika addressed her 8-hour shift controversy. She said, "By virtue of being a woman, if that's coming across as pushy or whatever, then so be it. But it is no secret that a lot of superstars, male superstars, in the Indian film industry, have been working for eight hours for years and it's never made headlines." Deepika also said that India's film industry is still very disorganized and needs a more organized system. Talking about other male colleagues, Deepika said, "I don't want to take names now and make this into a whole thing but it is very commonly, publicly known that a lot of male actors have been working for eight hours a day for years. A lot of them only work for eight hours Monday to Friday. They do not work on weekends."

On the work front, Deepika will soon be seen in Atlee's film AA22xA6 with Allu Arjun and in King with Shah Rukh Khan and Suhana Khan.
