Haq box office collection day 3: Suparn S Varma's directorial and Yami Gautam-Emraan Hashmi starrer Haq hit the big screens this Friday. The picture, which revolves around the controversial Shah Bano Begum case, has seen earnings rise over the weekend. Here is the box office receipt it secured so far.

Trade website Sacnilk reports that Haq generated an approximate Rs 3.51 crore net in India on Sunday, thereby pushing its first weekend domestic total to Rs 8.61 crores, which indicates a further increase in collection. The movie opened to Rs 1.75 crore and, after a 91% spike on Friday, minted Rs 3.35 crore on Saturday.
The flick pulled a net of Rs 5.1 crores in India and Rs 7.50 crores globally in the first two days of release. Sunday also saw improved theatre occupancy, as Haq had a 19.35% occupancy rate on Saturday and 23.36% on Sunday. It is still uncertain how the film will hold throughout the week.
Yami posted on her X (formerly Twitter) account on Sunday, reacting to the praise the movie has received. She wrote, "The power of 'Word of mouth'. No foul-play or any gimmicks. Straight from our hearts to the audience. Even from trade & media perspective, I feel a lot of positivity that they want a film like ' HAQ' to be a success. It's a rarity & I shall cherish this moment for life."
About Haq
Haq re-enacts the events surrounding the famous Mohd Ahmed Khan vs Shah Bano Begum case. It is taken from Jigna Vora's work, Bano: Bharat Ki Beti, which is somewhat an artistic adaptation. The movie recounts the legal fight that started in 1978, when the lawyer husband of Shah Bano, Abbas, divorced her. The Supreme Court of India heard her case in 1985 and passed a ruling by a five-judge Constitutional bench that the Muslim women were also entitled to maintenance under the law.

In the movie, Emraan portrays Abbas while Yami plays Shah Bano. Important parts are also played by Sheeba Chaddha, Danish Husain, Aseem Hattangady, and Vartika Singh.
